The Man is a real meat and veg kinda guy. In fact, I’m sure you could drop the veg and he’d happy live off slabs of meat every night. A real carnivore.

Me? Not so much.

Lately, The Man has been getting creative with homemade marinades. This is a much healthier option than the bottled stuff,  and adds beautiful flavour to the meat, making it melt in the mouth tender to the point that even I am happy to eat a whole steak!

This particular combination is my favourite:

1 tsp Chilli

2 tsp Garlic

1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce

Juice of one lime

We marinate the meat for at least 3 hours, if not overnight.

This quantity made enough marinade for 2 decent size rib fillet steaks. Obviously measurements can be changed to taste & to suit the quantity of meat you have.

This particular concoction also tastes amazing with pork steaks.

The Gourmet Garden fresh herbs I was sent as part of the Blog Off/Cook Off are perfect for making marinades. I’m looking forward to trying more combinations!

  2. I’d love to try your personal choice of marinade! One of these days I’ll make a recipe for my family out of that one. Thanks for the new idea.
